Are you planning on visiting Thailand? If you are, then you must have Phuket on your itinerary. This is where you can experience the country at it’s best. Why? You can see beautiful scenery and at the same time get a sense of adventure without burning a hole in your wallet. Sounds like fun, doesn’t it?

To give you an idea on what to do in Phuket, read on.

Be Like In The Movies

Maya Bay

This is one island that is a must visit if you come to Phuket. It is where Leonardo DiCaprio’s movie, The Beach, was shot. It is highly recommended to come here when it is off peak season. One tip though—you can access this island right at the back entrance. Why? The tides are quite heavy during this time. Plus, it adds more adventure for backpackers as well.

Just an overview of your trip to Maya Bay: You will be riding a boat going to tiny lagoon and then ride a canoe, and then slowly paddle yourself. After which you are going to walk straight to a jungle until you arrive at the shore, where you can see the beautiful beach. It is as if you are reliving the scenes in the movie. How’s that for an adventure?

Phang Nga Bay

Do you remember the movie James Bond “The Man With The Golden Gun”? Scramanga, the villain in the movie, had a secret hideout. It happens to be found on the tiny islands of Phang Nga Bay.

Do you want to check out this famous island? It is best enjoyed when you go island hopping, sea kayaking, snorkeling and have a sumptuous lunch at the floating village.

Phuket All Light Up

Loi Kratong

This means festival of lights. This has been one of the most sought after traditional festivals that locals look forward to. Thus, if you want to have a closer look at Thai culture, this festival is one you would not want to miss.

You will see small candles being lit and placed on a small float. The float is made from a banana trunk and decorated with flowers, banana leaves, topped with incense sticks and candles. It’s a remarkable scene to watch as you see thousands of these float on the water, all lit up and moving slowly as the fire lanterns are released up into the sky.

Bargain Shopping

If you want to check out what Phuket has to offer to your Baht, do see what is in store for you at Naka Weekend Market. Here you can buy all sorts of things from fresh vegetables and fruits, to shirts and shoes that can help accessorise your new figure after completing your breast augmentation procedure. Be sure you have your barter skills ready. You need them, especially when you want to save on your shopping spree.

There you have it: three things you can do while you are in Phuket. Be sure you have your Baht ready, along with a backpack. You never know what you may discover on your trip to this beautiful place.
